The children in Primary 4 had a great afternoon meeting Calum from “Cool Creatures” who introduced them to a range of animals from the classification groups they have been studying. All the children were given the opportunity to handle “Brave” the meerkat, “Max” the tortoise, “Ellie” the armadillo, some millipedes and finally the giant Burmese Python. They also got the chance to see “Jeremiah” the dwarf bullfrog who kept trying to jump across the room looking for dark places to hide. As you can see from the videos everyone had a fantastic time putting their animal science skills to good use working out which animal group each of the visitors belonged to. Well done everyone, our next step will be looking at popular pets from each group with hopefully more visitors to class next term.
Let the children in Primary 6 lead you down the rabbit hole to discover the magical world of Wonderland…meet Alice, the Mad Hatter, some crazy cats and a very unusual white rabbit to name but a few.
If you happened to pass Leith Academy on Friday 2nd June you would have seen these fantastic sports stars enjoying their morning.
Watch the children having a great time being Rockstars…
It was a delight to welcome a capacity crowd to Leith Academy on Wednesday night for Lorne’s Got Talent. With staging, lighting and sound organised by Craig and Jack (senior pupils) a trio of celebrity judges, our own dynamic duo compering the evening and of course our talented pupils – we knew we were in for a great evening. The acts performing showcased a wide range of talents that included; singing, dancing, art, science experiments, comedy, musical ability and magic. The audience responded appreciatively cheering and encouraging the pupils. The two hours sped past and at the end – all were in agreement that every child taking part showed amazing confidence and that each and every one was a winner. It will be hard to top next year with the bar set so high – but we are already putting plans in place to make sure this becomes a permanent fixture and bigger and better next year.
The children in P5 ran a French Cafe which served breakfast to the children in P5/6 this morning offering drinks and French pastries.
After break the P5’s were served lunch by the P5/6 children in their Spanish Tapas Cafe. Great fun was had by all and they all got a chance to practice ordering food in French and Spanish.
The crowds were entertained by the wonderful singers of the Lorne Choir performing two songs.
A group of dancers joined children from Hermitage Park Primary School to show off their new dancing skills.
Finally some of our winners of the annual gala poster competition.
